Starting tomorrow, Zombies, Run! fans will be able to download the eight-episode episode of the fitness program. That is not surprising.
In 2012, Zombies, Run! it was one of the first fitness programs to get volunteers. A big part of its success was the fact that it combined a plan from bed to 5K with a deep story set in a zombie apocalypse. Six Starts – the company that played the game – was sold to OliveX, a dubious researcher of crypto and NFT products. Then it fell into the same trap that many indie apps and games fall into after they get it. More than a year ago, all but two Six to Start staffers had been removedand new levels of the game are permanently installed.
This is often a case of frustrated fans trying to mount a campaign to save what brought them together – often without hope or success. You just have to look SpiritualThe popular game is almost real met with the same fate It’s been a few months since Meta retired from most of the games. But in the case of Zombies, Run!fans were lucky. Cocreator and author Naomi Alderman bought the program back in Novemberand after six months, Zombies, Run! begins a new season aptly named “Return of the Dead.”
“That’s what I had. I was just like, ‘I don’t want my thing to die, and I care about my players,'” Alderman said. Seasiderealizing that from a writing background, it has been a learning curve for running a company.
The new units will feature the same beloved characters and voices, Alderman says. He also says that the game is returning to its roots. I took a sneak peek at the first episode, and without giving away any spoilers, the visuals are spot on.
“We wanted to write something that was accessible to new people who have never played the game, but still in the world for people who have been playing this game for a long time, because we have a lot of fans out there,” says Alderman.
Returns like this are extremely rare – and in many ways, Zombies, Run! it is possible to remain an exception to this rule. Alderman says he made a small profit because of a clause he wrote into his original contract that gave him the right to buy back the game if he sold it. He had also not been bought by the new owners of the game. To do this, Alderman allegedly raised money from his work as a bookkeeper and bank loans.
Right now, Alderman says that Zombies, Run! team is really possible. The goal is not to blow up, make a lot of money, and then sell it to another company. Instead, Alderman emphasizes that his goal is to create a sustainable business that serves loyal people for a long time. But even with a limited focus, there are plans to expand on Zombies, Run! app. For starters, after receiving feedback from fans, the game will soon introduce smartwatch support for voice playback.
“I think there are a lot of people out there who haven’t tried it Zombies, Run! however, so I feel like there’s a good organic growth to have in the gaming industry,” he says. I feel like the message is more important than ever.”
