World number two Gino Titikul leads the first round of the AIG Women’s Open by two shots after a stunning seven-under 64 at Royal Lytham and St Anne’s.

The 23-year-old has 11 top-10 finishes at a major, but has never won, and was off to a good start in her last attempt.

South Korea’s Hiran Ryu is aiming to become the fifth woman in history to achieve three top-10 finishes in a calendar year, five under second behind Japan’s Shiho Kwaiki.

England’s Lottie Wood and Charlie Hull are both down.

The world’s best golfers performed well in the opening round, with world number one Nellie Korda one of the few stars left behind.

Korda remains off the pace after shooting a two-over-73 in a round that included four bogeys.
