Yulia Svyrydenko has resigned as prime minister amid government turmoil to prioritize foreign policy and security goals.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced a change of government, and wants to replace Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko and heads of other legislative bodies.
“Ukraine is changing its political system. Any important direction of foreign policy will be supervised by someone with a lot of experience who can fulfill the agreements reached at the level of the leaders and fulfill the expectations of the Ukrainian people,” Zelenskyy said on Sunday in a long post on social media.

“I discussed it with the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Yulia Svyrydenko. We agreed that the implementation of these reforms requires a reorganization of the Cabinet.”
Svyrydenko he became the prime minister a year ago, defeating Denys Shmyhal. He previously served as deputy prime minister and finance minister, positions that brought him into close contact with US President Donald Trump. He is widely credited with negotiating the controversial mineral deal between Washington and Kyiv last year that helped thaw the relationship between Trump and Zelenskyy.
“I am proud that I have had the opportunity to lead the government at the most difficult time in the modern history of Ukraine. I thank every man and woman for protecting the country of Ukraine. Our soldiers and our strength are the foundation of our freedom,” the 39-year-old said. wrote on X.
Zelenskyy also said that there has been a change in the leadership of the law enforcement agencies.
He said that the new political plan will focus on the most important issues of foreign countries, including agreements to develop Patriot air defense systems under license, to advance Ukraine’s work to become a member of the European Union and to expand relations with the Gulf region, which he described as one of the “promising” areas in the world to protect security and economic cooperation.
Zelenskyy thanked Svyrydenko for his opportunity to lead “a new way of communicating with an important partner”.
