Yamal: I imagined myself lifting the World Cup 1000 times

Barcelona and Spain star Lamine Yamal has spoken about his lifestyle in recent weeks following his injury ahead of the World Cup.

Yamal continues to accelerate his recovery in order to be able to participate in the World Championship, although he will miss the first matches of the matador.

“Mundo Deportivo” newspaper published the statements of Yamal, which he made during the video published by the Spanish federation on social networks.

“I remember the moment I got injured,” Yamal said. “I was praying to myself that it wasn’t anything serious, that it was just a muscle cramp or something.”

He added: “It’s also true that the World Cup gives you extra motivation, as if your mind is working as if you haven’t played a match all season. I have a great desire to play my first game in the tournament.”

He continued. “In my mind, I feel like I’ve been playing football for 10 years, but the truth is that I’ve only been playing for 3 years.”

He emphasized. “I imagined myself lifting the World Cup 1,000 times, whether it was in my room or when we won a game in my stadium. The World Cup is the biggest thing in football.”

When asked about the fans, especially the kids, he said: “They’re the group I have the most sympathy for. When I see a little kid, I know he sees his idol in front of him, and he doesn’t understand that you can have a bad day. Therefore, it is necessary to stop for him.”

He noted: “When I was young, my idol was Neymar and I was desperate to take a picture with him. I was ready for anything to take a picture with Neymar. If someone had told me I had to take a train to Russia to get that picture, I would have done it.”

At the end of the speech, he referred to his younger brother Kane, saying: “He knows that I will play for Spain. I don’t know if he actually knows what the World Cup is. He loves Neymar, Pedri and Rafinha, and he loves me too, and he loves Cristiano Ronaldo.”
