Shaun Murphy recovers from a 4-4 draw against Wu Yize from 3-0 down in the first period of the World Championship final at the Crucible Theater in Sheffield.
The match was briefly interrupted in the third frame when a female spectator jumped a barrier in the front row.
She was denied any progress towards the table by referee Rob Spencer before security removed her from the venue.
This year’s race is not the first time disruptions have occurred. During Wu’s semi-final match against Mark Allen, there were several instances of shouting, with fans being repeatedly warned about phone use.
Wu, who was playing to replace Murphy as the second-youngest Crucible champion at that stage, was in charge.
The 22-year-old picked up where he left off against Allen on Saturday evening, with breaks of 51 and 61 helping him to a healthy early advantage.
However, Murphy began to impose himself on the contest, taking the final frame with 85 runs before the halfway point of the session.
The Englishman is aiming to set a new record for the longest gap between the first and second ranks, 21 years since he won snooker’s biggest stage.
Responding in style with big breaks, Wu restricted him to just 25 points in four frames – 98, 77 and a brilliant 109 to give him a 4-3 lead.
Wu, the third Chinese player behind 2016 runner-up Ding Junhui and last year’s champion Zhao Xintong, was broken at 65 in the eighth frame in an attempt to take a break of 147, but it was to no avail as parity was restored.
