Ronnie O’Sullivan completed his World Senior Snooker Championship debut by defeating Joe Perry in the final.
O’Sullivan, a seven-time winner of the main world championship, confirmed ahead of this year’s tournament that he Inaugurating his seniors at the Crucible Theater in Sheffield.
The 50-year-old star was knocked out in the second round of the World Championship By John Higgins However, Ken Doherty defeated Peter Lines and Robert Milkins to reach the senior final.
And he completed a superb week by making five century breaks in a 10-4 win over fellow Englishman Perry.
O’Sullivan scored three centuries as Perry, 51, came back to reduce his deficit to 5-3 in the evening session.
The reigning British Senior Open champion, who retired from professional play after last year’s main world championship, then claimed the first frame of the session 5-4.
But the world number 14 found his rhythm in the next five frames and scored two more centuries.
Changes to senior tournament rules mean players aged 45 and over who are ranked in the world’s top 64 are now eligible to take part.
