World Cup 2026: What is the BBC’s 3D live match experience and how does it work?

For the duration of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the BBC has launched a 3D experience.

It allows fans to see a match in an alternative way, with the options available to any player on the pitch being in sight to imagine exactly what it’s like playing on the biggest stage of them all.

The technology is a first for the UK and is only available through BBC Sport.

With the 3D experience, you are able to follow matches in a variety of unique ways. These include tactical match view, a first-person player’s point-of-view, your own control of the broadcast camera, and third-person view of certain players.

For the matches covered, you can follow along in real-time and go back to the key moments of the match depending on your preference.

The technology provides statistics as well as a unique view of player movements and events and key moments from a wider angle than ever before.

You can follow the matches covered through the 3D experience https://bbc.co.uk/3dWorldCup. From there, you can access live matches and go back to experience matches that have already happened
