World Cup 2026: Uruguay’s Marcelo Bielsa denies involvement in photo shoot

FIFA photographed all the teams and their staff at this World Cup, with photo shoots becoming a staple of their coverage of the biggest tournament in the last decade.

The Argentine, one of the game’s most respected coaches, who is in charge of his third country at the World Cup after earlier achievements with Argentina and Chile, was asked a different question, but returned to the same topic.

“There is a limit in terms of what we have to explain,” he added.

“If I’m wearing glasses, why am I wearing glasses?

“You look into someone’s eyes, why do that?

“There’s nothing wrong with wearing glasses or looking someone in the eye or looking down.”

Uruguay’s second pool game against tournament surprise package Cape Verde on Sunday (23:00 BST).
