Tuchel was full of praise for German Maduke when he named his England squad for the World Cup.
The forward Tuchel has consistently impressed for the Three Lions since taking charge and manager Maduke said he could be a “difference maker” before highlighting his “one-on-one” ability.
Tuchel has made it clear that he wants his England team to play with the physicality of the Premier League.
And this mindset shaped his team selection, with the 52-year-old choosing a team with physically fit and strong runners.
Tuchel ensured his game plan was built around the record goalscorer and captain Kane, leaving space for Bayern Munich’s forwards to drop deep, flanked by wingers looking to run after the defence.
That mentality worked well for Maduke, who made four passes against England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford in the match against Croatia.
Anthony Gordon started opposite Maduke and his strong performance on the wings was one of the positives of the game for Tuchel’s side.
Kane is known for his passing and when given space, the striker attempted two passes and released Maduke behind the Croatian defence.
Maduke touched five balls into the opposition box and completed his only dribble of the game before winning a free-kick to put England on the road.
