World Cup 2026: FIFA admits free ticket error but demands fans pay

FIFA has admitted to errors on its website allowing 60 fans to buy free World Cup tickets.

Football’s world governing body canceled the wrongly priced tickets and allowed affected fans to re-purchase tickets at full price.

“FIFA can confirm that approximately 60 fans received a communication during the checkout process on Wednesday, June 3 about tickets allocated free of charge due to a pre-payment issue,” it said, adding that it “regrets any inconvenience”.

Ticket Talk Network, a social media account that highlights ticketing errors, shared a letter confirming that fans have seven days to pay for tickets before they are removed from their accounts.

It is understood that the affected tickets were for the group stage match in Toronto.

The World Cup, hosted by Canada, the United States and Mexico, begins on Thursday, June 11.
