World Cup 2026: David Yarrow explains viral Norwegian World Cup Viking photo shoot

Realizing the photo-view, however, was not so straightforward.

Yarrow had to navigate the packed schedule of Norway captain and Premier League champion Martin Odegaard – the team was in Budapest for the Champions League final against Arsenal on the day of the shootout.

A solo shot of Odegaard joining Yarrow after the procession left North London and the cloudy conditions matched the original shot – meaning his image could be added without too much fuss.

But it was crucial for Yarrow that Odegaard and title rival Haaland didn’t steal the show.

“One thing that’s important about that image is that if you have a £200m guy in the Norwegian team and a £250,000 Watford goalkeeper (Egil Selvik) – they’re both in the same frame size,” Yarrow told BBC Sport.

“This is very important to me.

“It didn’t appear to be Haaland and Odegaard and 24 others – it was important to develop a team spirit.”

Jørgen Strand Larsson and Antonio Noosa scored as Norway’s visitors thrashed Sweden 3-1 on Monday.

He was impressed by the breadth of talent in the Norwegian team.

“People think it’s a two-man band and it’s not,” says Glasgow-born Yarrow.

“From their wings to their backs, they are a very good football team, and I think they will go far in the competition.

But like Scotland – they need to win their first game.
