World Cup 2026: 9.1m watch England beat Mexico on BBC


A peak audience of 9.1 million tuned in to watch England beat Mexico in the World Cup on BBC Television and BBC iPlayer on Monday.

The game was a one-night stand for the UK audience, kicking off at 02:00 BST, but was watched by an average of 7.8m people on BBC TV and BBC iPlayer.

It is the UK’s biggest live TV show between 02:00 and 04:00.

It’s also the biggest day ever for the BBC Sport website and app with 15m unique visitors and 330m video views on BBC Sport’s social platforms.

Judd Bellingham scored twice in an impressive game. England survived the Mexican war. to advance to the quarterfinals at the Azteca Stadium.

BBC Highlights was viewed 5.9m times on BBC iPlayer, the BBC Sport website and app, as well as the BBC Football YouTube channel.

1.1m and an average peak audience of 900,000 watched on BBC Two from 07:10.
