The 2026 World Cup saw 14 times more harmful posts and comments than the 2022 tournament, FIFA’s social media protection service found.
A total of more than seven million messages were identified and deleted this summer.

AI identified more than 530,000 messages targeting specific individuals and these were evaluated by the SMPS team.
