“Ultimately, we have to let the people in charge of this situation – the governing bodies that decide these things – make their decisions.
“As players we are in a situation where it is an Israel game at a neutral venue and that is all we can do.
“Is it the best situation around? Of course not, because we’re aware of everything that’s going on and we feel it as human beings.
“However, at the moment we have to adapt to the situation and play football. That is our role and all we can do.”
Grimshaw has been recalled to the Scotland squad after a two-year absence after recovering from a knee injury.
Asked if he personally considered turning down the chance to play against Israel, the AC Milan midfielder said he was a man and a footballer – “two different people”.
“But I was out for a long time and when the national team called, as a footballer I would never say no to my national team,” he added.
Grimshaw said it was “not ideal” that he could add to his 16 caps in an empty Bozcic Arena in Budapest on Friday.
“We want to play in Scotland, but we just have to play the role we’ve been given and that’s to perform as well as we can and adapt,” he said.
“We are human, we are aware, but we cannot change it. We are footballers and have a job – and to get six points in these two games.”
Scotland go top of Group B4 play from Belgium who play their double header against bottom side Luxembourg.
