West Indies 99-5 (16.1 overs): Taylor 27* (25); Dilhari 2-22
West Indies won by five wickets
West Indies edged closer to the semi-finals of the Women’s T20 World Cup despite struggling to chase just 99 runs against Sri Lanka.
Windies trailed to 70-5 before veteran Stephanie Taylor experienced.
Taylor scored an unbeaten 27 to ensure the West Indies remained unbeaten in Group 2 with England, where the result also eliminated winless Ireland.
Sri Lanka, struggling for a win in three, were bundled out for 98 in 19.4 overs as Windies skipper Hayley Mathews took 3-15.
Player of the match Mathews took all his wickets in the first three overs as Sri Lanka slumped to 9-3, including skipper Chamari Athapathu dismissed for two runs.
Kavisha Dilhari scored 21 and Neelakshi de Silva 30 as Sri Lanka slowly regrouped but Mathews was backed by a superb all-round performance, taking one wicket each for the other four bowlers.
De Silva struggled for support from elsewhere as their reliance on Athapathu became evident once again.
England face the West Indies on Wednesday, with the winner advancing to the semi-finals.
