England beat West Indies comfortably by 38 runs at Lord’s to reach the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup.
In rainy conditions in London, England scored an impressive 186-7 with Danny White-Hodge 65 and Heather Knight 43.
This was the highest score in women’s T20s at Lord’s and it killed any chance of England’s Windies dragging the tournament.
Windies captain Hayley Matthews was frustrated to be caught behind in a review in the fourth over and England stand-in skipper Charlie Dean Dendra Dotin was caught at long-on by Alice Casey in the sixth over.
After that, and in the long run of the game, England conceded six runs, five of them difficult, to erase their copybook to some extent in the second half of the West Indies innings. This means West Indies have rolled to 148-5.
However, England’s place in the last four is guaranteed ahead of their final group game against New Zealand on Saturday. They are also on a six match winning streak.
It is still not known who England will play or whether they will play in the first semi-final on Tuesday, or whether they will play the second leg on Thursday, but South Africa or India are currently the favorites.
