Women’s T20 Blast: Warwickshire stun Surrey as Hampshire move to top of table

Warwickshire had not won in six Blast attempts this summer until Friday but Perrin (50) and Freebourn (51) gave them the perfect platform against Surrey.

Georgia Redmayne’s 28 and Mary Taylor’s unbeaten 23 put together an 88-run stand for their first wicket.

Surrey, in reply, put up a decent opening partnership for Alice Davidson-Richards (39) and skipper Briony Smith (30).

But they fell apart as Taylor (3-24) and Warwickshire captain Georgia Davies (3-35) collapsed in Surrey.

At Taunton, Holly Armitage scored an unbeaten half-century to guide Durham to victory over Somerset.

The Durham skipper scored an unbeaten 65 off 45 deliveries and seven fours helped the visitors chase a target of 156 with five balls to spare.

Somerset captain Sophie Loof top-scored 56 off 38 balls for her side and Alex Griffiths (31 not out) and Chloe Skelton (26) added valuable runs in the lower-order, but Maddie Villiers set up Durham’s fourth straight win, taking 4-28, her best figures.

Georgia Adams impressed with bat and ball as Hampshire went top of the table with a bonus-point win over Yorkshire.

Hawks captain Adams (30) set the tone with Maia Bouchier (44) before claiming 2-20 with the ball in a fiery 68-run partnership for the first wicket.

Yorkshire were never able to chase down their 175 and remain winless in the competition.
