Women’s Super League: Wigan return to the top as Leeds and York also win


Wigan Warriors maintained their 100% record in 2026 as they raced back to the top of the Women’s Super League with a 10-try run to a 56-12 win at Huddersfield giants.

Anna Davies opened the scoring with the first of her two tries in the fourth minute, with Megan Williams and Mia Atherton also crossing the line twice.

Jenna Foubister, Bethan Denton, Grace Banks and Mary Coleman went on to score other tries for Dennis Bates’ 2025 treble winners.

Huddersfield were competitive in the first 45 minutes at Lond Hill and Wigan went through the gears with six tries in the final 24 minutes with Amelia Brown twice and Molly Eyston once crossing the scoreline to make it 22-12.

Elsewhere, Liv Whitehead scored a hat-trick for Leeds Rhinos as they scored 11 tries in their 46-6 win over Barrow Raiders at the Speed ​​Competition Stadium.

Barrow took a 6-4 lead when Jodie Morley headed over for a converted try before the Rhinos showed their class to leave the hosts still pointless in the table.

Prop Shannon Brown scored two tries in her 50th Super League appearance, while Ebony Stead and Nicole Kennedy also scored twice. Lucy Murray and newcomer Amelia Hurst scored Leeds’ other two tries as they stayed third.

York Valkyries ran in eight tries as they demolished Leigh Leopards 40-0 with Monique Donovan and Adaoha Akuyu scoring twice each.

Donovan and Akuyu went over in the first half, with Emma Kershaw and Megan Pakulis also crossing the line.

The pair scored again in the second half with Izzy Bibby and man of the match Isabelle Brennan coming off the bench to seal the win and consolidate York’s fourth place in the table.
