In short, she won them all and sources say that she felt it was time for a change.
With her contract at Barcelona expiring, Putelas decided to leave and is believed to have always relished the idea of a move to the WSL.
That put the London City Lions in the driving seat and they chased it for a while despite competition from many of the world’s biggest clubs.
She had offers from England, Mexico and the United States, with sources close to the player saying Boston Legacy gave her the most competition.
But American billionaire Kang is believed to have admired her husband’s successful French club Lyon, who are long-time rivals in the women’s game.
There has been a relationship between Putelas and Kang, with sources close to the owner suggesting a business partnership could form and grow beyond his average playing career.
The Spaniard revealed on Wednesday that the pair first met in Miami four years ago, where they had dinner and discussed their views on the game.
Putelas’ hope was to join a club where she could play away from home and leave a legacy that would enhance the future of the game.
She gave up her chance to play Champions League football this season – in 2016. It’s a big decision for who will win Barcelona in 2026.
But competing for the title is part of London City’s five-year plan and they will be hoping to challenge for a place in the WSL’s European qualifiers this season.
With next year’s World Cup looming, Putelas wanted to settle in 2027, with a three-year deal at Bromley securing her future.
