Women’s Six Nations: Full-circle moment for Aoife Wafer in Aviva game

Wafer, who was voted the best player of the 2025 Women’s Six Nations tournament, started slowly in this year’s competition, but has rediscovered her best form as the campaign has progressed.

The Harlequins flanker registered three tries and was third for most carries in the competition, winning the Man of the Match award back-to-back Impressive display In last weekend’s 33-12 win over Wales.

While the 23-year-old “felt good” about his performance in Belfast, he said there was room for improvement in certain areas as it was “definitely not a complete performance”.

“I was a few percent off in parts of my game and sat down with the coach afterward and I still have a lot to do to be a better player for the team. I’m excited to get the chance to do that over the weekend,” Wafer added.

“My super-strength is the carry game, but how do you become more physical and dominant in this clash.

“Was I dominant in every clash? No and I could have owned a few more situations, it’s about chasing them and how you can be more dominant defensively.

“I’m not just happy to be dominant, I want to be the most dominant. I think I can get the ball back on the floor a few more times, so I have a lot to chase.”
