France and England will battle it out for the Six Nations title in the final match next weekend and although Ireland are not pushing those heavyweights, they have now established themselves as a young, up-and-coming squad.
Their win over Wales was their second of the campaign, following an impressive 57-20 victory over fourth-placed Italy.
“We’re starting to handle bigger shows and bigger pressures, and with that comes more expectations. But that’s great, we want to be there,” he continued.
“Now our next thing is we’re going to start converting that belief, that confidence, that understanding and that we’re pretty good at results.
“We’ll get there, the trajectory is still there and we’re still hungry to get better. So there’s no doubt we’ll get there and the sooner we get there, the sooner the better.
Despite their progress, Baymond also admits they still have room to improve.
Ireland have never beaten France or England and the head coach added that this must be the team’s aim.
“We want to be in games where we are in a position to beat England and a France.
“Are we getting there? Well, with this competition, we’ve proven that we haven’t yet.
“So, we’ll take it, but unfortunately that means we have to sit for 12 months before we get another crack at them, a top four team.
“Our job is to do as well as possible next year so that when we get them here, we can consolidate that scoreline.”
Ireland conclude their Six Nations campaign with a home match against Scotland on 17 May at the Aviva Stadium.
