Sunrisers Leeds won by seven wickets
Sunrisers Leeds opened a new century with a seven-wicket win over MI London at The Oval.
After a good all-round bowling performance restricted MI London to 107-8, Sunrisers cruised to their target with 31 balls to spare.
Australian batsman Phoebe Lichfield led the way with a fluent 43 off 26 balls, while compatriot Annabelle Sutherland suffered defeat with 23 for 30.
Despite a good performance, experienced bowler Kate Cross was a concern for Sunrisers as she suffered a shoulder injury while diving in the field and had to undergo a physio.
It has been confirmed that she did not remove it, but that she will go for a scan to determine the extent of the damage.
That left England all-rounder Danni Gibson – who was named the Sunrisers captain after being named the most expensive women’s player at the auction – as a bowler, but the rest of the attack stepped up effectively.
MI London openers Hayley Matthews and Danny White-Hodge claimed key wickets after Indian spinner Deepti Sharma made a positive start to reach 56-0.
From there the innings settled down and Sunrisers won with regular wickets including Gibson 2-17 and leg-spinner Hannah Baker 2-16.
