The Red Devils board makes the final decision on Carrick
“Manchester United” has decided the fate of its temporary coach, Michael Carrick, who has been in charge since the middle of the current season, replacing the Portuguese Ruben Amorim.
and:Carrick brought Manchester United into the lead again. After taking technical charge of the Red Devils last January, he managed to guide the team to next season’s Champions League qualification, finishing third in the Premier League.
But so far Manchester United’s management have not made an official decision on Carrick’s future, whether it will give him the job as permanent manager or look for a new technical director for next season.
“Michael Carrick will be given the opportunity to become the permanent coach of Manchester United.
“Karik will begin talks with club officials next week over a new and improved contract to replace Ruben Amorim, who was sacked in January. The club’s owners, the Glazer family and Sir Jim Ratcliffe, believe Carrick has proven his worth on a consistent basis.”
He continued. “Other candidates have been discussed including Thomas Tuchel, Luis Enrique, Julian Nagelsmann and Unai Emery. But Manchester United realize that bringing any of them to Old Trafford would be unrealistic for a number of reasons.”
Both Tuchel and Nagelsmann are under contract until at least after the World Cup, while Enrique is not ready to leave PSG and Emery is desperate to stay at Aston Villa.
This means Carrick is now in a prime position to become Manchester United’s seventh permanent manager following Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013.
