Dutchman Virgil van Dijk, the captain of Liverpool, scored the first goal in the history of the World Cup when he visited Japan in the early hours of Monday in the first round of Group F of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Crescencio Summerville restored Holland’s lead with a curling shot from the right for the second ball to give the Windmills a 2-1 lead.

This goal is the first for Van Dijk in the history of world championships, when he played 5 matches at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, during which he did not score any goals, knowing that the Dutch Windmills did not participate in the 2018 World Cup.

It is noteworthy that Holland and Japan have been placed in Group F of the World Championship, next to Tunisia and Sweden.
