Will the Portuguese star return after 8 years of absence?
Tomas Roncero, a well-known Madrid journalist of the Spanish “AS” newspaper, demanded from the president of “Real Madrid”, Florentino Perez, to return the senior Portuguese player of “Al Nasr” Cristiano Ronaldo to the “Santiago Bernabeu” stadium, the base of the Royal Club, 8 years after his departure.
Ronaldo left Real Madrid in the summer of 2018 for Juventus, where he stayed with them for 3 years before spending a season and a half with Manchester United, finally joining Al-Nasr in the Saudi Arabian league from the winter of 2023.
AS newspaper published a video of a Spanish journalist, in which Perez asks to hold a friendly match with Al-Nasr club before the start of the new season, in which Ronaldo will be present, to compete for the 40th edition of the Santiago Bernabeu Cup.
The Santiago Bernabéu League is a tournament held by Real Madrid before the start of each season since 1979, but it stopped for the thirty-ninth time in 2018.
Roncero’s announcements open the door to bringing the championship and Ronaldo back to the Santiago Bernabeu after an eight-year absence, especially as next season will be the Portuguese star’s final one under his contract with Al-Nasr, opening the door to his retirement.
Notably, Ronaldo is Real Madrid’s all-time leading goalscorer with 450 goals scored in the nine years he played for the Real Madrid from 2009 to 2018.
