England star Jude Bellingham has revealed how his mother helped him avoid a yellow card against Norway, which would have seen the Real Madrid star banned from next Wednesday night’s World Cup 2026 semi-final against Argentina.
The 23-year-old came to the rescue again for the Three Lions in their 2-1 win over Norway early on Sunday as he scored both of the winning goals to take his tally to six at the current World Cup.
Bellingham is considered one of England’s most important stars at the 2026 World Cup. In addition to his two goals against Norway, he led his country by scoring two more goals in a 3-2 win over Mexico in the round of 16.
He also scored two other goals in the group stage, one against Croatia and the other against Panama.
Bellingham entered the game against Norway with just one yellow card after receiving a one-match ban after picking up a yellow card in the first half of the Round of 32 match against the Democratic Republic of Congo two weeks ago.
But thankfully the Real Madrid star kept his cool in Miami and escaped without warning.And he gets the right to normally participate in the semi-final against Argentina.
Speaking after the meeting, he revealed that his mother played a role in it.
“My mom has been telling me all week to watch my language, watch my behavior, watch my face, watch my emotions,” Bellingham told reporters.
He added, according to the publication of the newspaper.Daily Mail:“I think he’s been telling me all week to be careful with the yellow card.”
He went on to praise the referee’s performance. “Honestly, when you’re playing the right game and getting the right balance and there’s a referee who’s willing to listen, it becomes a lot easier.”
He concluded his statements. “At the end of the day, it was just a very competitive football match and luckily I got through it.”
