The Rojiblancos sarcastically respond to Barcelona regarding the Alvarez deal
In a sarcastic scene that turned the Mercato channel upside down, Atletico Madrid posted three tweets via their official X platform account. It wasn’t just a passing joke, but rather a veiled message to Barcelona, who are moving aggressively to poach Julián Alvarez.
The Madrid club launched their mock bid to sign Blaugrana talent Lamine Yamal with the phrase “HERE WE GO”. It is known that he wrote: “We have sent a fax to the account of “Barcelona” with our transfer offer. 4 tickets to Bad Bunny’s concert tomorrow, a year’s subscription to the ABC newspaper and a bag of pulp… We look forward to hearing back in order to make the official announcement.”

Minutes later, the Rojiblancos returned to correct the offer in a second tweet, accompanied by a photo of Pedri: “We had a problem with the second show. Tickets for tomorrow’s concert were sold out, so we’ve upgraded the previous show with six tickets for Sunday’s concert.”
The third strike was more cynical as the Brazilian Madrid team targeted Rafinha. “To complete the three-for-one offer, we decided to go overboard and throw away all our cards; The player will join us on loan for a season and in return we will sign Tom Ford and Smith without an option to buy, an offer that cannot be refused.”

The tweets came after reports in Spain revealed that Barcelona were set to make a €100m bid for Atletico striker Alvarez, given the admiration of coach Hans Flick and sporting director Deco, and while the club have been monitoring his situation for nearly a year.
Alvarez, who is under contract with Atletico until 2030 after moving from Manchester City in August 2024 in a deal worth €95 million, is Barcelona’s strategic target to compensate for the expected departure of Robert Lewandowski.
