“Al-Raqi” lived remarkable years under his leadership. Will it continue?
Khaled Al-Ghamdi, the president of Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ahly, has officially announced his resignation with an emotional message through his personal account on the “X” website.
Al-Ghamdi wrote: “My dear Al-Ahly fans, after my journey as the chairman of the board of directors of this great organization for the past three years, which I am proud of and proud of in my professional career.”
“Today I announce my resignation from the presidency of Al-Ahli Club, which has witnessed many challenges and achievements, most notably winning two consecutive Asian Elite Championships and the Saudi Arabian Super Cup.
“All thanks to the members of the Board of Directors, the Public Investment Fund, the club’s employees, the players, the technical and administrative staff, the club’s fans’ association and everyone who supported us or disagreed with us out of concern for the organization.”
“As for you, Al-Ahli fans, you have always been the support and partner of all successes. Thank you for your trust and support and don’t forget me in your prayers. Everything that has been achieved is first of all with God’s help and then with your great support.”
“Today I step down and Al-Ahli continues to be proud of its history and its fans, with my full belief that it is capable of continuing its success and achieving more in all competitions in the future. Thanks to Al Ahli and their loyal fans.”
Media reports had earlier confirmed that Khaled Al-Ghamdi will step down as Al-Ahly’s president to run for president of the Saudi Arabian Football Association.succeeding Yasser Al-Mashal.
Al-Ghamdi will leave after a successful 3-year career with Al-Ahly, during which the team won the AFC Champions League for Elite twice, as well as the Saudi Arabian Super Cup for the first time after a 9-year absence.
