The Real Madrid defender is playing down controversy after being left out of the World Cup squad
“Real Madrid” defender Dean Hausen has publicly commented on his exclusion from the final squad chosen by Spain national team head coach Luis de la Fuente for the 2026 World Cup.

Huisen wrote on his official Twitter page. “I send my warm congratulations to my teammates who will participate in the World Championship. I will support them from home like any other Spaniard.”
He attached the message to a picture of himself in a Spanish national team shirt, in addition to several emojis showing the national flag.
Huysen was one of the most popular names touted to join Luis de la Fuente’s squad, especially given the small number of Real Madrid players nominated for La Roja, but the manager ultimately opted for other players.
Soon after the list was officially announced, the player’s father hinted at some displeasure as Donnie Huysen of Sofascore published a photo of the Spanish league team of the season, which featured Dean alongside Pau Cobarci and Erik Garcia in the back line.
“Not bad, first season. Hala Madrid,” he wrote on the social network in a post that the player later shared on his Instagram Stories.
But Hevison has now opted for a more conciliatory message, focusing on supporting the national team, and the defender is turning a bitter page after a volatile season with Real that has been marked by moments of brilliance but also inconsistent performances in key games that have fueled doubts about him and even boos from his fans.
