Wimbledon 2026: Serena Williams pulls out with sister Venus due to knee injury


Serena Williams has pulled out of the Wimbledon doubles match with older sister Venus due to a knee injury.

The American pair, six-time doubles champions at the All England Club, were scheduled to meet again on a Grand Slam court for the first time since 2022.

However, 44-year-old Serena Williams is out of action after suffering a knee problem during Tuesday’s loss to Australia’s Maya Joyce.

The 23-time Grand Slam singles champion did not speak to the media following the match, with Wimbledon organizers saying she was “unable to fulfill” her duties.

“I am heartbroken to be out of the doubles tournament,” Serena said in the post. Instagram, External.

“It’s been a gift to be back competing again, and the opportunity to play with Venus meant the world to me.

“I did everything I could to prepare but unfortunately my knee is not ready to compete.”
