In an interview with Checkout iSports., External In the year In January 2024, Noskova’s mother described her daughter as “unbending.”
“She follows my husband in this regard. She doesn’t let things bother her easily,” she said.
“Whether it’s a break point or a match point, she’s just as calm.
“It’s not that she doesn’t care – she’s just distancing herself from the situation.”
It was that inner strength that Noskova got from Saturday. She was the better player for most of the match but – after Muchova saved three championship points on serve – the tension was palpable.
Noskova was broken only twice in the second set – when she served for the title at 5-3. Her toss was erratic, her footwork was a step slower, and she became angrier, yelling in frustration after one clear ball.
Noskova put her fingers to her ears as she returned to her seat after being crushed in her first attempt at victory. After Muchova won the next two games, Noskova hid her head in a towel as she sat in her support box and watched in silence.
“It was very stressful not only for the players but for the people around me,” said former British number one Laura Robson, who was watching on Center Court.
“People are pulling out their phones to find the winning time, and then the phones are off.”
After losing the set, Noskova left the court.
“I It was in the bathroom. I sprinkled some cold water, I started again, ” said Noskova.
“What really helped me[was my first step off the court]the trophies were there.
“I won’t take the small one, I’ll take the big one. I was so close. This might have been the heartbreak of my life.”
Coming back, she saved three break points in her first service game, broke Muchova in the next and never looked back.
“What about her resilience, her character, her heart?” McEnroe said.
“To find something inside of you, when you’re so close so often, it’s really cool to watch.”
