Wimbledon 2026: Britain’s Alfie Hewett keeps his hopes of two titles alive

The British pair were broken twice in the first set of the semi-final against Howdet and Xie but then won four straight games to seal the opener.

The second set was delayed for 13 minutes due to mechanical problems with Howdett’s wheelchair, which was eventually sorted, but that didn’t throw Hewett and Reed out of their rhythm.

Hewett will face Fernandez in the wheelchair singles last four in the second match on Court One on Friday.

Andrew Penney lost to Spain’s Martin de la Puente 6-0 6-1 in the men’s wheelchair singles second round.

Britain’s Lucy Shuker and partner Kgothatso Montzane of South Africa were beaten 6-3 6-2 by Japan’s Yui Kamiji and China’s Zhenzhen Zhu in the women’s wheelchair doubles semi-finals.

In the quad wheelchair doubles semi-finals, the British pair of Andy Lapthorne and Gregory Slade lost 6–4 6–1 to Sam Schroeder of the Netherlands and Gene Woodman of Australia.

Lapthorne gets another shot at Schroeder on Friday when they meet on Court 14 at 11:00 BST in the quad wheelchair singles semi-finals.
