It took four tries over 15 years, but Keiko Fujimori has found the top job in Peru. She is making history as the first woman to be elected president. His victory makes Peru the latest of several Latin American countries to move to the right.

Fujimori defeated his leftist rival by a narrow margin, and will rule a divided country. Many people doubt that he will be able to unite Peru as he promised, worrying that instead, he will inherit his father. The late president Alberto Fujimori was convicted and imprisoned for human rights abuses and corruption. Will his example guide his government?
