WILL: Maresca signs a contract with Manchester City

The curtain has come down on the Pep Guardiola era at Manchester City, ushering in a new era under Enzo Maresca, who has signed a contract extension until June 2029, according to transfer pundit Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian journalist reported that Maresca signed a 3-year contract to become the new coach of “City” and that the agreement is valid until June 2029.

British media have confirmed that Maresca will be directly involved in the summer transfer window of 2026, meaning that the club’s management is giving him full authority to build the team according to his vision.

The natural heir

Maresca’s selection came as no surprise as the 46-year-old was Guardiola’s close assistant in the 2022/23 season when City won the historic treble, making him best suited to understand the management philosophy Guardiola has built at the club.

After leaving City, Maresca made a name for himself by leading Leicester City back to the Premier League before going on to success with Chelsea.

Despite parting ways with the London club earlier this year, he is still regarded as one of Europe’s most promising young coaches.
