Influencer brothers Andrew Tate and Tristan Tate have been was arrested in Miamiin the state of Florida in the United States, after prosecutors in the United Kingdom called them on other charges of rape and sex trafficking.

The brothers were arrested on Saturday in a sealed warrant, the United States Marshals Service said, putting the US at the center of an international crime spree that stretched from Romania to the UK.

Raised in the UK, the Tate brothers hold dual US and UK citizenship. The UK government has said it wants their extradition to answer 38 new charges of rape, sex trafficking and torture.

Who are the Tate Brothers?

Andrew39, and Tristan, 38, were former professional kickboxers. They are known for their cultural influence on wealth, male dominance and misogyny.

Andrew is one of the most prominent advocates of the so-called “manosphere” network, many of them online, which focus on traditional masculinity, antifeminism and self-improvement. He promotes his divisive views, which often include male and negative themes, to millions of people on social media, including 10.8 million followers on X.

Andrew has been banned from platforms like YouTube, TikTok and Instagram for violating hate speech guidelines. He also runs an online school where he claims to teach boys how to get rich and attract women.

The brothers also strongly support US President Donald Trump.

What new charges does the Tates face?

British prosecutors say 59 new charges – 42 against Andrew and 17 against Tristan – relate to crimes committed between 2010 and 2017.

He said that Andrew is charged with seven other counts of sexual assault, three counts of organizing or facilitating the sale of people for sex, three counts of assault, and 19 counts of indecent images of a child and gross pornography.

Tristan was charged with one count of rape, two counts of sexual assault and three counts of planning or facilitating the sale of sex.

“We have decided to charge Andrew and Tristan Tate with a number of offenses including rape, arranging or facilitating the trafficking of persons for the purpose of rape and offenses relating to indecent images of a child,” the UK Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said.

Since the arrest warrant had been published, the United States military did not disclose the charges against the Tate brothers.

Their lawyer, Joseph McBride, said the brothers were “innocent”.

“We are confident that when a competent judge finds the facts, and when the Department of Justice faces this serious challenge to their authority, Andrew and Tristan Tate will be exonerated,” McBride said in a statement.

What other crimes are the brothers accused of?

Andrew and Tristan are already facing multiple charges in the UK and Romania, where they moved to in 2016.

Four women have accused Andrew of physical and sexual abuse.

The plaintiffs, who have been asked to remain anonymous, say the elder Tate abused them physically or sexually between 2013 and 2015. Two say they were intimate with him, while two worked for his online business.

In June, a UK High Court judge rejected a legal bid by the Tates to reveal the names of their accusers.

In Romania, the brothers were arrested at the end of 2022 together with two Romanian women. The four were accused of being part of a gang that enticed women to take advantage of them. They rejected the claims and the Romanian case did not progress due to legal and procedural difficulties. The case is not over.

Andrew has repeatedly said that Romanian prosecutors have no evidence against him and that there is a political conspiracy against him.

The Tate brothers are also accused of tax evasion and money laundering in the UK.

The UK’s CPS has said it wants to pay them back.

“CPS has requested that Mr. Tates leave the US,” he said, adding that the latest charges stem from receiving new evidence from Bedfordshire police that brings the number of victims in the Tates case to seven.

British police previously wanted the Tates extradited to the UK after completing their charges in Romania.

But in February 2025, he was allowed to leave Romania after authorities lifted travel restrictions, and flew to Florida on a private plane.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania at the time said that the head of the United States government in the Trump administration showed interest in the case of the brothers in Romania.

Trump said he “knows nothing” about the case when asked if his administration has pressured the Romanian government to release Tates.
