A girl who was raped by two teenage boys in prison has told the BBC she was shocked by her sentence.
The girl, who was 15 years old at the time of the attack, spoke to her family on condition of anonymity.
She said the judge’s decision “almost made it seem like what the boys did was wrong, but because they were still children, it was fine in the eyes of the law.”
The Attorney General, Judge Nicholas Rowland, will review the sentence, saying on Thursday he wanted to avoid “criminalizing” men who are “very young”.
The girl told the BBC’s Laura Kunsberg: “Why did I put myself through the pain of going to court, going through hearings, remembering everything… It made me realize what’s the point?” she said.
