Why are South Korean fans angry at their football coach?

Frustrated fans in Seoul awaited the return of the former head coach of South Korea’s men’s soccer team after the country failed to qualify for the World Cup playoffs.

“We didn’t deliver the results our fans expected,” said Hong Myung Bo, who announced his resignation at a news conference in Mexico on Sunday.

Lee Jae-myung, the president of the country where the announcement was made, said he felt “not only confused, but deeply confused by the unexpected results.”

The president also demanded an investigation into the team’s performance.
