Who wins and who loses after banning foreign robots in the US?

Humanoid robots and four-legged robots made in China fall under a new ban imposed by the US Federal Communications Commission on foreign-made robots. But the broader ban applies to a wide variety of robots manufactured anywhere in the world, including the latest robotic vacuum cleaners.

The Trump administration’s FCC justified banning foreign-made robots information on cybersecurity which was previously found in robots made by Chinese companies. On July 28, Mr the federal agency added “advanced weapons made by other countries” to his List Covered technologies “considered to pose an unacceptable risk to the national security of the US or the safety and security of the US people.”

However, the FCC cannot change the Covered List on its own and the law is required to follow the guidelines of “national security eligible.” The agency explains that the White House “convened an executive committee” that “included national security agencies,” which concluded that foreign-made robots pose a threat to national security.
