Joe Hart: England. But I’m not that worried about being right or wrong. I just like to support my people and I want England to do it.
Martin Keown: Looking at the tournament, if the favorites beat their teams, there will be an absolute blockbuster quarter-final; For example, England vs. Brazil and Argentina vs. Portugal – or Messi vs. Cristiano Ronaldo.
After all, is this the hardest to lose in the World Cup? in case. It feels very open. My head is telling me the best team is France, my heart is telling me it might be England.
Paul Robinson: France is the only thing stopping France from winning. They need a cohesive dressing room.
Pat Nevin: This is speculation, but England has a real chance. Along with France, they are my favorites and it is a toss up between the two as to who will win.
I also wouldn’t be shocked if we got a left-field winner this time and Morocco jumped out at me because I covered most of their games in Qatar when they reached the last four. From what I hear, they might be better than they are now – and they were good then. They are also used for heat, which always helps.
Ellen White: I want England to win. That’s what I’m going with, but if that’s not the case then France have a really good team.
Tony Pulis: It’s ridiculous that there are 48 teams and 40 more games than last season. Fair play to all the countries that go will be enjoyed by all but football at this stage is now being used as a cash cow.
Argentina, Brazil, France, England, Morocco, Portugal, Spain and Senegal have been quarter-finalists. My choice to win it? France.
Chris Sutton: Spain is a very good team but I went for France to win the last two World Cups and I wasn’t wrong. Now I won’t change my mind – they haven’t really clicked in the last Euros but I look at their front line and I think they will be difficult to stop.
