What we learned from Bill Gates’ statement on Epstein

Billionaire Bill Gates testified in a closed-door hearing before the House Oversight Committee on Wednesday about his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.

Gates, the founder of Microsoft and one of the world’s most prominent philanthropists, has told members he has no knowledge of Epstein’s crimes, and that Epstein tried to pressure him with information about his personal life.

Gates said in his opening remarks that he showed poor judgment in meeting Epstein and that he was “one of the many people I regret knowing.”

The BBC’s Gary O’Donoghue looks at the relationship between Gates and Epstein and how lawmakers reacted to the testimony.
