The attack took place at around 22:00 local time (20:00 GMT). A report was made to Berlin police that a white vehicle drove into a crowd at the capital’s Pride event.
Hundreds of thousands of people gathered in Tiergarten Park near the famous Brandenburg Gate for the annual event, known as Christopher Street Day.
Some people were also stabbed in the incident, with a knife authorities believe may have been a machete.
Soon after, the Pride event was cancelled.
The show ended abruptly with the organizers walking out onto the stage and advising the crowd to start heading for the exits.
As the message was being delivered to the crowd, the word “Evacuation” was flashed on the big screen at the stage.
An unconfirmed video posted on social media shows dozens of people being evacuated as emergency vehicles rush to the scene.
At 1:00 am local time, police confirmed that one woman was dead and several others were injured.
A short time later, police confirmed they had found the vehicle believed to have been used in the attack, saying the vehicle had crashed into a tree.
