What we hear about the new site

We have been reading your comments new home page. Everything about that. Kind and encouraging comments, cruel, “these rules,” “please change this immediately,” reports of the error, his thoughts, yes, the eternal request of darkness. We appreciate that.

Many of you took the time to share your detailed, thoughtful post-implementation, and this type of feedback is helpful. It helps us understand where the event is hitting or missing the mark, the challenges we face and conflicts, and breaking down those ideas into several buckets. We want to be open and honest with you about how we look at comment buckets.

Bucket 1: Yes, we have to fix that. Some comments point to things we need to fix or improve, like bugs and edges.

Container 2: This is important to check. Some comments point to issues that need further investigation. These are repeated requests that may indicate a major need or pain point, even if the actual answer is not what we are after.

Bucket 3: Not right now. Some comments fall into the category of opinions that we do not want to take on at this time. Not because the answers are bad, but because we need to be intentional about what we can contribute.

I want to be clear about what we can do to help. We are a very small team and each idea must be weighed against time, resources, challenges, editorial needs, business needs, and the long-term vision of where Seaside it’s going (and we have big ambitions for where we want it to go). We cannot commit to any idea, even if we sincerely agree that it is a good idea.

We’ll fix what needs fixing and dig into the topics that seem to make sense. We will continue to prioritize and work through sales and obstacles. Most importantly, we are comfortable with what we see and learn as we go. Please keep the comments coming.
