What is the truth about the appointment of Walid Regraghi as coach of Al-Ittihad?

The Saudi press revealed the fact that the former coach of the Moroccan national team, Walid Regraghi, was nominated to head the Al-Ittihad club next season, replacing the Portuguese coach Sergio Conceição.

Multiple reports suggest that Conceicao is close to being sacked as Al-Ittihad’s technical director after the team’s poor results and failure to win any titles last season.

Saudi journalist Majid Houdi, who specializes in following the news of the Al-Ittihad club, was asked about the Moroccan coach being nominated to lead the team next season, and he replied on his personal page of the “X” website: “Yes, Regraggy, he has a name.”

Some reports have previously confirmed Regragou’s presence in the list of candidates to work in the Saudi League next season, following his departure from the Moroccan national team, without disclosing the club’s name.

Regraghi has a distinguished coaching career, most notably with the Moroccan national team, which he finished fourth at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, becoming the first Arab and African team to achieve this feat.

In addition, the Moroccan coach led the Atlas Lions to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title at the expense of the Senegalese national team.
