What does 2030 have to do with it? Infantino sends a touching message to Morocco

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has sent a message to the Moroccan national team following their impressive campaign at the 2026 World Cup.

The Atlas Lions’ World Cup journey came to a halt in the quarter-finals after losing to France by two unanswered goals.

Infantino wrote: via his Instagram pageA message to the Moroccan national team where he said: “Your trip was full of great moments and you brought a lot of joy to your country, which is passionate about football.”

He added: “Your ten goals in this tournament, your highest tally in a single World Cup, helped you become the first African team to reach the quarter-finals of the World Cup twice.”

The president of FIFA noted. “As always, it was a pleasure to host you and we look forward to welcoming you again and enjoying your hospitality and warmth in 2030.”

Morocco will host the 2030 World Cup finals, jointly organized with Spain and Portugal.

Morocco finished second in Group C at the 2026 World Cup with 7 points, drawing with Brazil and beating Scotland and Haiti.

Morocco beat the Netherlands on penalties in the round of 32, before beating Canada 3-0 in the round of 16 before going out against France in the quarter-finals.
