Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi congratulated the Pharaohs team after their victory over New Zealand in the 2026 World Cup final.

President Sisi wrote on his official Facebook page. “Congratulations to the Egyptian national team and the fans of our great nation on the first victory in the history of Egypt’s participation in the World Cup, with an honorable performance that embodies the determination, will and perseverance of the people of the country.”

He continued. “This well-deserved victory is a promising start to continue the ambitious and confident path and raise Egypt’s name high on international platforms.”

On the other hand, the Egyptian Football Association expressed its sincere thanks and gratitude to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for his kind congratulations and continued support to the youth in various fields.

The Football Association X’s website stated that this great support is a strong incentive to continue working and donating, and that the national team will do its best to respect Egyptian football.

Mustafa Zico, Mohamed Salah and Mahmoud Trezeguet scored the Pharaohs’ hat-trick in the match against New Zealand.

Egypt’s national team’s lead at the top of Group Seven rose to 4 points, while New Zealand’s lead was frozen by one last point in the standings.
