Nuno Espirito Santo will continue as West Ham boss despite being relegated from the Premier League.
Nuno and the club’s hierarchy have been in talks over his future since Monday.
He signed a three-year deal when he took over from Graham Potter in September. Both West Ham and the Portuguese had the option to walk away from each other for free after relegation.
A club statement on Wednesday said: “We met with head coach Nuno Espirito Santo earlier this week and are pleased to confirm that he has expressed his continued commitment to the club – as we have.
“Nuno made it very clear at the first time of asking that he is very motivated to challenge West Ham United back to the top flight. That must be the undoubted goal for next season.

“Nuno spent the previous year in the Championship and it was an outstanding success as he scored 99 points in the 2018 title win with Wolverhampton Wanderers.
“While Sunday’s final result was a painful one, the board believes there have been broad signs of improvement and progress in recent months and we want Nuno to continue that progress.”
Nuno led the Hammers to 39 points after victory over Leeds on the final day of the season, but they still finished in the Championship with the highest points for a relegated side in 15 years.
Nuno took over for Potter, who lost five of his first six games of the season.
Nuno – who won 12 of his 37 matches at the London Stadium – was sacked by Nottingham Forest just weeks before arriving in east London.

Gary Neville discusses what he thinks West Ham need to do now to ensure they can bounce back from their relegation to the Championship next season.
Speaking on the Gary Neville podcast on Sunday, Sky Sports pounds Gary Neville West Ham begged to stay with Nuno. He wants them to make sure captain Jarrod Bowen stays too.
“”The manager and Bowen are the two most important figures. I think they need to lock it down very quickly,” Neville said.
“I would be surprised if West Ham’s ownership didn’t give Nuno a huge incentive to stay.
“If they’re smart, they’ll announce it in the next 48 hours.
“At the end of the week, you want to try to lock Jarrod Bowen into a big deal to stay, which will be difficult because they will lose a lot of revenue this year.
“It then potentially stabilizes the dressing room and somewhat stabilizes the fanbase from where they will be (on Sunday night) which is absolutely disappointing.

Speaking after West Ham’s relegation from the Premier League, Jarrod Bowen reiterated that he remains under contract with the club next season and his vision is to help the Hammers return to the top flight.
“It’s about stabilizing beyond that. They’ve probably been planning for it for weeks. You have to do that not just financially, but also in terms of resources and personnel.
“It’s important that they get some good PR messages out there very quickly.”
