Welcome to Night Vale host Cecil Baldwin shares his professional tools

But he is best known as a podcast host Welcome to Night ValeA long-running fantasy show that combines macabre Lovecraftian horror with absurd comedy. As Cecil Palmer, the voice of Night Vale Community Radio, Baldwin keeps the townspeople up to date on what’s going on with the Faceless Old Lady Who Secretly Lives in Your House and offers advice on how to properly maintain their Bloodstone courts.

They also have a cohost Random Number Generator Horror Podcast No. 9 and Night Vale co-creator Jeffrey Cranor, recently directed the drama Like Sylvia and raising awareness about LGBTQ+ and HIV. In short – he is a busy man. So we’re glad he took the time to tell us about his latest technology.

What’s one thing you’d like to change about your phone?

I wish it was impossible by hand write and run car at the same time. We are in this together worse than we think.

What’s your favorite place on the internet?

Adding my books Favorite list on Amazon so I remember titles / authors, and then take my new list and/or work book store and buy them there.

Which tech trend do you want to see go away?

Please, I beg of you, let me make a film or television history in peace. I just finished a movie, you don’t need to make me a new one. Let me digest that for just a minute.

What creation are you most proud of?

It should be a podcast Welcome to Night Valeokay? It was a drama that changed my life.

What do you do when you’re stuck?

I will say to myself “1, 2, 3, 4, 5…. Get out of there.” It’s kind of unstructured, spoken out loud when I don’t know how to move forward with a project or I have a TV show that doesn’t interest me. Put it down. Go away. Think about something else for a while.

When was the last piece of screen you bought?

I picked up a couple of albums at a local record store: Marianne Faithfull On TV 1965-1967Jorge Ben Jor Jorge Benand Dr. John Gray-Grey.

What would be the tagline of your biopic?

Doing the real thing… real.
