What did the coach of Morocco say after the World Cup shock?
The coach of Morocco, Mohamed Webe, raised doubts about the first goal scored by the French national team during the confrontation between the two sides of the quarter-finals of the World Cup 2026 on Thursday evening.
Mbappe scored the first goal in the 60th minute, but it was Adrien Rabiot who scored the thrilling goal thanks to a handball at the start of the attack.
“The goal came from a joint shot. Some players stopped because they saw a handball, and there was actually a handball. I don’t know if that should count or not. I’m not sure, but that’s what happened. After that, Mbappe’s individual shot came and he scored from it.”
“We have to admit that we played against a very good team. We struggled a lot in the first half and had an important save from Yasin Bounu on a penalty kick, but in the second half we defended better, especially in possession, we were calmer and more confident.”
He added: “At one point we were much better and so it seemed in the first half some players were looking for a second wind and we saw the players themselves start the second half very well.”

“It was difficult at the end, but I think we have to keep believing and working and keep building and developing the basics so that we have more options and alternatives when there are injuries or some players are less fit.”
Webb explained that the exit from the World Cup was a huge disappointment for the team, saying: “We are very disappointed because we wanted more, but we have to accept it. We will continue to work and we will not stop here.”
Regarding the future of the Moroccan national team, given that it has a young group of players, Webb said: “The future will be beautiful if we continue like this. This doesn’t mean we didn’t want to win today. We did everything we could to try to win, but we faced a good team.”
“We know very well that we have to keep working and we have a lot of talent and young players, so we will stay confident and we certainly won’t stop.”
