In China’s Nanning, a reservoir wall breached, causing floods after rivers swelled from the storm. Officials say at least two people have died in floods caused by Typhoon Maisak and 480,000 others have been evacuated in the southern province of Guangxi. The province’s emergency flood response has reached a high level.
Officials have warned that heavy rains will continue in Guangxi and several neighboring provinces in the coming days. Maisak is the first typhoon to hit China this year.
