Just days before the start of the 2026 World Cup, Scotland found themselves at the center of an unexpected crisis with Norway after the decision to cancel a training match between the two teams in the US city of Charlotte.

The Norwegians did not hide their anger, describing the decision as “unprofessional” and “disgraceful”, while Scotland responded by stressing that protecting the players ahead of the tournament was a priority.
